How would you like to learn how to save energy by lowering your hot water heater’s temperature?

Yes, I know that sounds simple, but it’s not just energy you will save, it could also save the life of your child or grandchildren!

I read today over on the Dept of Energy site, how lowering your hot water heater’s temperature by 10 degrees can save you 3% to 5% on your energy costs. Now that was pretty exciting all in itself. But as I was playing with Dalton’s baby girl (my little Sweet Pea) I realize a few other important issues.

1. By lowering the temperature I will guarantee that when a bath is being run for the babies, it will not be hot enough to burn their skin.

2. If the hot water pipe breaks while someone is by the washer machine or sink, they will not get burned.

3. If you have PVC pipe running through your house, by lowering the temperature, you will have less chance of the glue melting and blowing your pipes apart.

So give it a try and start checking to see how much you save next month on your energy bills.
